Glass screen for tower arch now in place

View into the church through the new glass screen between the main body of the church and the ringing chamber

The new glass screen between the body of the church and the bell-ringing chamber is now installed at All Saints Church. The purpose of the screen is two-fold; primarily to act as an acoustic barrier between the ringing chamber and the church; and secondly to restrict the escape of heated air from the church through the tower.

The Rector, Canon David Hodgson,  said; "The screen passed its first test with flying colours last weekend. Bell-ringers report being able to continue to keep time comfortably in ringing after a wedding whilst the organ was playing a magnificent and loud voluntary as the happy couple processed from the church."

The image here demonstrates how the West window in the tower wall of the church is now reflected in the glass screen, so that from the ringing chamber it appears to float above the nave.
